Help us grow Barrington Indivisible
Date: Tuesday, January 20 | 7 PM - 8:30 PM
Location: Barrington Area Library
In this interactive communication workshop, inspired by Indivisible's “Truth Brigade,” attendees will learn positive approaches to political conversation at a time of unprecedented polarization and disinformation.
Attendees will understand how to recognize disinformation, when to engage (and when NOT to), and what they can do to change the dynamic through truthful, firm, and friendly conversation tactics. Attendees may role-play de-escalation, practice finding common ground, experiment with “stop and think” questions, and try drafting social media posts. Staying composed during rapid response moments is easier said than done, and this hands-on session will prepare attendees to communicate effectively and positively.
The Barrington Area Library provides Meeting Room space as a community service. The Barrington Area Library neither sponsors nor endorses this event nor the presenting individuals or organizations.
